Volume Lashing is a technique used to achieve a fuller, fluffier look. With this method, anywhere between 2-6 super fine extensions are fanned out and applied to a single natural lash. This is the perfect solution if you have sparse lashes or gaps.

- Clients who have fine, weak, or sparse lashes
-Clients who have thick natural lashes, but enjoy the look of strip lashes

Hybrid Lashing is the blending of both the Classic and Volume eyelash extensions. Volume fans and Classic eyelash extensions are intermixed to create a fuller lash line. This gives a slightly fluffier appearance to the lashes than straight Classic eyelash extensions.

Classic Lashes vs Volume Lashes

CLASSIC LASHES : are sets applied with one lash for each natural lash. The ratio is 1:1.

What Are The PROs Of Classic Sets?

1)excellent for everyday wear
2)the effect is quite natural, and are not too obvious, or too dramatic or distracting.
3)They work well with any type of natural lash .

What Are The CONs Of Classic Sets?

1)They don’t offer as much drama as some clients prefer.
2)Applying fewer lashes means that gaps will be more visible when the lashes start to fall out during the natural lash cycle.
3)Gaps are going to be more noticeable because the individual lashes tend to be thicker in this style of extensions.

Pick Classic lashes IF:

  • You’re after a subtle, natural look .

  • Your natural lashes are full .

  • Your natural lashes are thick .

  • You want the extensions for everyday wear .

VOLUME LASHES: Russian Volume, 3D lashes, etc. all refer to the same style of lash extensions.
The lash artists applies several extensions (ranging from 2 to 6) to each natural lash – that’s a 6:1 ratio.

What Are The PROs Of Volume Sets?

1)they are fuller than the classics
2)the effect is denser, more dramatic, and more noticeable.
3)offer the subtle glamour for clients with sparse lashes who are limited in what they can obtain with a classic set.
4)because there are more individual lashes applied, they don’t leave a sparse look behind them at the end of the lash growth cycle.
5)The application is a lot fuller, so it lasts for a longer time than a classic set does.

What Are The CONs Of Volume Sets?

1)The effect can be a bit too much for everyday wear for some clients.
2)If you want just a subtle enhancement or your lashes are full, thick, and long already, a volume set may not be for you.
3)The procedure takes longer than the classic one, due to the higher number of extensions. Full sets usually take 3 hours to complete.

Pick Volume lashes IF:

  • You’re after a fuller, more dramatic look.

  • You enjoy volume in your everyday look .

  • Your lashes are sparse or thin.

  • You want to keep your extensions for a longer time

Let's talk about Lash Aftercare.

Are you cleansing your lash extensions daily? Water alone is not enough and will not cleanse them properly.

TIP: Stand in front of your magnifying mirror and lift your lash extensions with your lash wand so you can see the base of your lashes. If you see build up, you know you're not cleansing your lashes properly.

There is an article going around talking about 'lash lice' known by its medical term, Demodex folliculorum.
It’s actually a type of mite that can be found on the face, where it lives in or near your hair follicles, feeding off dead skin cells, oils and hormones. And they particularly love eyelids and lashes.
If you're not cleansing your lashes daily, you're allowing all that dead skin and oil to build up on your lash line.
These microscopic mites are attracted to the oils that build up on our eyelashes.
If the lashes remain dirty, and are not cleaned properly, the mites can overpopulate, causing inflammation and itchiness and can lead to an increase in bacteria, which could potentially lead to an infection (blepharitis).
Dead skin cells, dirt, makeup and oil build up will also eat away at your lash extension's bond/adhesive, breaking it down over time and compromising your lash retention.

Do not be afraid to cleanse those lashes daily with a proper lash extension cleaner! Clean lashes are happy lashes!
That is something I always tell my clients!
CLEANSE CLEANSE CLEANSE!

FAQ

WHAT ARE LASH EXTENSIONS?

Lash extensions are semi-permanent lash extensions that are applied strand by strand with specially formulated non-irritating lash adhesive to your own lashes to enhance your eye shape.

Traditional false eyelashes, which you remove after each use, are applied directly to the skin and have pre-designed depth and layers that don't take your unique eye shape into account. Extensions, on the other hand, attach to the lashes themselves, so they grow out naturally and can be customized to create specific depth and elongation to your eye shape for the exact effect you crave.

DO LASH EXTENSIONS DAMAGE YOUR NATURAL LASHES?

Simply put: no, extensions alone will not cause damage to your natural lashes. Lashes can be damaged as a result of improper extension application or by the lash tech not selecting the correct type of extension based on the conditions of the natural lash.

Applying lashes that are too heavy for the natural lash will ultimately end in premature shedding. Rubbing your eyes will also result in immediate breakage.

HOW LONG CAN YOU KEEP EXTENSIONS ON?

The shedding cycle will happen in tandem with your natural hair-growth cycle, which generally turns over around every 6 to 8 weeks," says Richardson. To maintain the full-lashed effect in the long term, refills are recommended every 2 to 3 weeks.

WHY DO YOU ONLY PREFORM FILLS ON YOUR OWN WORK?

At first some may think not performing fill in another tech’s work is a way to charge more, but that is not the case at all.

There are numerous experienced and talented eyelash specialists around who are able to create gorgeous clean sets of lashes, there are just as many who take no pride in their work whatsoever. This results in clients ending up with less than satisfactory end results, which can be close to impossible to rectify.

Some of the most common problems I have come across include:

  • Many of the lashes being clumped together instead of being properly isolated

  • Too much lash adhesive has been used during application

  • The client’s natural eyelashes have been damaged during installation, leaving them looking extremely sparse

  • Synthetic lashes that have been used are too thick, coarse or long

  • Extensions have been badly styled with one of the most common problems being that the same length extensions have been used throughout the set

  • Clients were under the impression that individual synthetic lashes had been installed, but upon closer inspection found them to be cluster lashes

When clients with existing sets of synthetic lashes from elsewhere book with me for a basic 60 minute fill, I’m unable to determine what their lashes look like until they arrive. In cases where their eyelashes look like any of the scenarios mentioned above, it is close to impossible to perform a fill and do the necessary repair work or install a full new set in that short a time-frame.

I do have to end up turning these clients away or suggest that they book a full set of eyelash extensions with me instead.

If you have been unfortunate enough to have had a bad quality set of eyelash extensions installed elsewhere, I will be more than happy to perform a complete replacement for you by appointment.

Lash extensions last through a full growth cycle of natural eyelashes, typically six to eight weeks. Since each lash extension is attached to a single eyelash, they will fall out naturally along with the natural growth cycle of each lash.

Because each person’s lash growth is somewhat variable, extensions require refills every two to three weeks. In other words, regular refills are required, no matter how well you take care of them. I recommend lash maintenance every two to three weeks to maintain a full look (depending on your natural lash cycle).

Applying a full set of lashes takes about two hours to 3 hours, and can be maintained year-round with fills recommended every 2 to 3 weeks.
